Over 400 million tons of plastics are produced each year, and just a small fraction of them are turned into new items. That’s why we made these bags from 100% recycled materials. It’s plastic that other people have tossed, but we’re helping give it a second life. They’re rubbish bags made from rubbish! Pretty cool, right?

We made sure our bags were third-party certified through SCS Global. To get this, our manufacturing partner fully audited their chain of custody and supply chain. They also provided an affidavit form from all suppliers of recycled content included in the bag.

We believe making better choices for Mama Earth shouldn’t be a burden, so we made sure these bags come with no compromises. They’re sturdy, strong and easy to use. We’ve done multiple rounds of testing so they’re up for the challenge of your nastiest, most chaotic rubbish.

One thing we love about recycled plastic is how durable it is. We’ve done extensive product testing and can safely say that they are super strong and leak / tear resistant.

Currently, drawstrings can't be made from recycled plastic for technical and manufacturing reasons. We could have chosen to use new plastic, but instead chose tie handles so our bags contain 100% recycled content. Tie handles are also much sturdier than drawstrings which often break with heavier loads.

It’s always best to reuse, recycle, or compost when possible. However, some waste will inevitably end up in landfills. Landfills are designed to prevent biodegradation, because when materials do degrade in them, they produce more methane. Because of this, recycled plastic is the more sustainable option since it generates very minimal methane over long time periods. Compostable starch plastic bags have a large climate impact when put into landfills since they generate methane when they biodegrade, and should only be used when they end up at a compost facility.
